Music Sheets and a Cross

In an un-named choir (not Ballymitty!!!) there was a man who could not sing. The members gave him a hint that he could serve in other places, but he continued to come to the choir. The choir director became desperate and went to the priest. “You’ve got to get that man out of the choir,” she said. “If you don’t, I’m going to resign. The choir members are going to quit too. Please do something.” So the priest went to the man and suggested, “Perhaps you should leave the choir.” The man replied “Why should I get out of the choir?” The priest said “Well, five or six people have told me you can’t sing.” “That’s nothing,” the man snorted. “Fifty people have told me that you can’t preach!”

JOIN THE CHOIR

As priest in charge of our parish here in Ballymitty, I am extremely grateful to the members of our choir who have taken the initiative to be more active in the celebration of our liturgies. As a liturgist, musician and composer, it gives me great joy knowing that our parish has a group of dedicated people who are prepared to use their talents in assisting us worship God in a beautiful and meaningful way. We live in an area rich with musical talent. It would be “right and just” if more people were prepared to use their God-given talents to thank God for the great gift of music that He has bestowed on them and to offer Him praise as is His due. If you would like to be part of the choir as a singer or musician, please let us know. Click on any of the contacts below.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God."
