GROWING IN FAITH
We read how Saint Paul was overjoyed that Christians in Thessalonica were growing in faith: “We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.” (2 Thess 1:3). What does Saint Paul mean by “your faith is growing”?
It means to grow spiritually, becoming more mature in our knowledge of God. Growth in faith manifests not only our relationship with God, but also our relationships with others. When our life is consumed with living for God and His glory, we are well on the path to growing in faith and being spiritually mature.
Growing in faith requires both time and effort. God ultimately causes the growth, yet He expects us to follow His ways and seek to grow, becoming mature followers of Jesus who can help make disciples of others.
